Roadway restrictions

Marin County Public Works oversees the roads in unincorporated areas of the county, except for state highways and private roads. Sometimes it is necessary to restrict access to a road, such as shutting down a lane or fully closing a road. This can be caused by an emergency, like flooding, a fallen tree or a red flag (wildfire) warning, or because of construction related to a project. Road closures and lane restrictions are for your own safety. Please follow any and all traffic control measures that are in place.

The following map shows locations, notated by red pin drops, on County-maintained roads that currently have some form of road restriction. Please click on a red pin drop to get details on the location.

County-maintained road closures and lane restrictions

Note: This table does not list the closures/restrictions related to projects. For project specifics, see our current project list.
Road Description Estimated duration
Panoramic Highway at milepost 2.26, a 700-foot stretch of one lane is closed. The location is approximately 1.3 miles northwest of the intersection of Panoramic Highway, Sequoia Valley Road, and Muir Woods Road (locally known as Four Corners Intersection). Starting January 29, Panoramic Highway will temporarily be reduced to a single lane at milepost 2.26, just south of the Mountain Home Inn, allowing for alternating two-way access controlled by a temporary traffic signal. The lane closure is required for construction of a retaining wall. This is part of a slide repair project. The single lane traffic control is expected to be in place through the end of March, but the duration could be extended if weather impacts the construction schedule.
