Fairfax Library Safety Improvements

This is a completed project. You are in the Archived Projects section of the website. Active projects can be found on the Projects webpage.

This safety improvement project will provide new smoke detection and fire suppression systems within the structure, which originally constructed in 1976. New safety codes and compliance requirements will be addressed by the project. The library is in a Wildland Urban Interface Area and the fire suppression installation will be part of a long-term plan to protect the facility and ensure safety for patrons.

The estimate for the project is $500,000 and it is funded through Measure A.

Public impacts

During the approximately four month construction phase, internal construction will occur from 4:00 am to 12:00 pm; library public hours will be from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Sir Francis Drake Blvd will have one lane closed for about 5 days during the construction period. Additional information will be made available when the construction schedule is developed and public outreach will be conducted.
