On weekdays, Fairfax-Bolinas Road in West Marin is closed from Azalea Hill to Ridgecrest. On weekends, the road will be open, but traffic will be routed through a single-lane with controlled two-way access at milepost 5.73. See project webpage for details. For the project on Bolinas Road at milepost 1.0, in addition to weekday work, there will be weekend work from the 9AM to 6PM on October 5, 6, 12, and 13. See project webpage for details. Thank you for your patience while these projects progress.

Film encroachment permit

About

Marin County is known for its beauty and numerous natural as well as manmade treasures. Companies interested in filming on County-maintained roads are required to apply for a permit to film in the County right-of-way. In addition, there are a number of other agencies and interested community groups that also require notification, and in some cases, permitting.

Companies interested in filming in Marin County should:

  • Search Marin Maps to determine which jurisdiction(s) or agencies might be impacted.
  • Review the County of Marin Requirements for Filming.
  • Provide evidence of liability coverage in the applicant’s name in an amount not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 per aggregate that names the County of Marin as an additional insured.

The permit fees include a non-refundable application fee of $65.00 and $500.00 per day of filming. If the work is cancelled, all but $65.00 will be refunded. Applicants must be prepared to comply with all general encroachment provisions and filming regulations established by the County of Marin.

Film permit applications that are submitted with evidence of commercial insurance and complete information, including location(s), area(s) needed for filming and parking, as well as an inventory of the vehicles that will be involved in the shoot, will be processed in 48 hours or on the next business day.
